Stages Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABACBCDEDFGH HGIGIGJGGJ| As every flower fades and as all youth | A |
| Departs so life at every stage | B |
| So every virtue so our grasp of truth | A |
| Blooms in its day and may not last forever | C |
| Since life may summon us at every age | B |
| Be ready heart for parting new endeavor | C |
| Be ready bravely and without remorse | D |
| To find new light that old ties cannot give | E |
| In all beginnings dwells a magic force | D |
| For guarding us and helping us to live | F |
| Serenely let us move to distant places | G |
| And let no sentiments of home detain us | H |
| - | |
| The Cosmic Spirit seeks not to restrain us | H |
| But lifts us stage by stage to wider spaces | G |
| If we accept a home of our own making | I |
| Familiar habit makes for indolence | G |
| We must prepare for parting and leave taking | I |
| Or else remain the slave of permanence | G |
| Even the hour of our death may send | J |
| Us speeding on to fresh and newer spaces | G |
| And life may summon us to newer races | G |
| So be it heart bid farewell without end | J |
