Persian you riseA
Aflame from climes of sacrificeB
Where adulators sueC
And prostrate man with brow abasedD
Adheres to rites whose tenor tracedD
All worship hithertoD
-
Arch type of swayE
Meetly your over ruling rayE
You fling from Asia's plainF
Whence flashed the javelins abroadD
Of many a wild incursive hordeD
Led by some shepherd CainF
-
Mid terrors dinnedD
Gods too came conquerors from your IndD
The book of Brahma throveG
They came like to the scythed carH
Westward they rolled their empire farH
Of night their purple woveG
-
Chemist you breedD
In orient climes each sorcerous weedD
That energizes dreamI
Transmitted spread in myths and creedsJ
Houris and hells delirious screedsJ
And Calvin's last extremeI
-
What though your lightD
In time's first dawn compelled the flightD
Of Chaos' startled clanK
Shall never all your darted spearsJ
Disperse worse Anarchs frauds and fearsJ
Sprung from these weeds to manK
-
But Science yetD
An effluence ampler shall begetD
And power beyond your playE
Shall quell the shades you fail to routD
Yea searching every secret outD
Elucidate your rayE
