The Good Craft Snow Bird Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGCG DHIH JKJL MNMN

Strenuous need that head wind beA
From purposed voyage that drives at lastB
The ship sharp braced and dogged stillC
Beating up against the blastB
-
Brigs that figs for market gatherD
Homeward bound upon the stretchE
Encounter oft this uglier weatherD
Yet in end their port they fetchE
-
Mark yon craft from sunny SmyrnaF
Glazed with ice in Boston BayG
Out they toss the fig drums cheerlyC
Livelier for the frosty rayG
-
What if sleet off shore assailed herD
What though ice yet plate her yardsH
In wintry port not less she rendersI
Summer's gift with warm regardsH
-
And look the underwriters' manJ
Timely when the stevedore's doneK
Puts on his specs to pry and scanJ
And sets her down A NoL
-
Bravo master Bravo brigM
For slanting snows out of the WestN
Never the Snow Bird cares one figM
And foul winds steady her though a pestN
