The Figure-head Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABC DEDEE FGFGDG

The Charles and Emma seaward spedA
Named from the carven pair at prowB
He so smart and a curly headA
She tricked forth as a bride knows howB
Pretty stem for the port I trowC
-
But iron rust and alum sprayD
And chafing gear and sun and dewE
Vexed this lad and lassie gayD
Tears in their eyes salt tears nor fewE
And the hug relaxed with the failing glueE
-
But came in end a dismal nightF
With creaking beams and ribs that groanG
A black lee shore and waters whiteF
Dropped on the reef the pair lie proneG
O the breakers dance but the winds theyD
moanG
