Voices Of The Night : Hymn To The Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BABA BCBC BABA DADA DEDE DBDB

Aspasie trillistosA
-
I heard the trailing garments of the NightB
Sweep through her marble hallsA
I saw her sable skirts all fringed with lightB
From the celestial wallsA
-
I felt her presence by its spell of mightB
Stoop o'er me from aboveC
The calm majestic presence of the NightB
As of the one I loveC
-
I heard the sounds of sorrow and delightB
The manifold soft chimesA
That fill the haunted chambers of the NightB
Like some old poet's rhymesA
-
From the cool cisterns of the midnight airD
My spirit drank reposeA
The fountain of perpetual peace flows thereD
From those deep cisterns flowsA
-
O holy Night from thee I learn to bearD
What man has borne beforeE
Thou layest thy finger on the lips of CareD
And they complain no moreE
-
Peace Peace Orestes like I breathe this prayerD
Descend with broad winged flightB
The welcome the thrice prayed for the most fairD
The best beloved NightB
