To The River Yvette Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCA EFGF HIHI AJAJ

O lovely river of YvetteA
O darling river like a brideB
Some dimpled bashful fair LisetteA
Thou goest to wed the Orge's tideB
-
Maincourt and lordly DampierreC
See and salute thee on thy wayD
And with a blessing and a prayerC
Ring the sweet bells of St ForgetA
-
The valley of Chevreuse in vainE
Would hold thee in its fond embraceF
Thou glidest from its arms againG
And hurriest on with swifter paceF
-
Thou wilt not stay with restless feetH
Pursuing still thine onward flightI
Thou goest as one in haste to meetH
Her sole desire her head's delightI
-
O lovely river of YvetteA
O darling stream on balanced wingsJ
The wood birds sang the chansonnetteA
That here a wandering poet singsJ
