To My Brooklet. (from The French Of Ducis) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIHI FJFJ

Thou brooklet all unknown to songA
Hid in the covert of the woodB
Ah yes like thee I fear the throngA
Like thee I love the solitudeC
-
O brooklet let my sorrows pastD
Lie all forgotten in their gravesE
Till in my thoughts remain at lastD
Only thy peace thy flowers thy wavesE
-
The lily by thy margin waitsF
The nightingale the margueriteG
In shadow here he meditatesF
His nest his love his music sweetG
-
Near thee the self collected soulH
Knows naught of error or of crimeI
Thy waters murmuring as they rollH
Transform his musings into rhymeI
-
Ah when on bright autumnal evesF
Pursuing still thy course shall IJ
Lisp the soft shudder of the leavesF
And hear the lapwing's plaintive cryJ
