The Republic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBACCDEEDFFGGHHIIJ BI

Thou too sail on O Ship of StateA
Sail on O Union strong and greatA
Humanity with all its fearsB
With all the hopes of future yearsB
Is hanging breathless on the fateA
We know what Master laid the keelC
What Workmen wrought thy ribs of steelC
Who made each mast and sail and ropeD
What anvils rang what hammers beatE
In what forge and what a heatE
Were shaped the anchors of thy hopeD
Fear not each sudden sound and shockF
'Tis of the wave and not the rockF
'Tis but the flapping of the sailG
And not a rent made by the galeG
In spite of rock and tempest's roarH
In spite of false lights on the shoreH
Sail on nor fear to breast the seaI
Our hearts our hopes are all with theeI
Our hearts our hopes our prayers our tearsJ
Our faith triumphant o'er our fearsB
Are all with thee are all with theeI
