The Poets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

O ye dead Poets who are living stillA
Immortal in your verse though life be fledB
And ye O living Poets who are deadB
Though ye are living if neglect can killA
Tell me if in the darkest hours of illA
With drops of anguish falling fast and redB
From the sharp crown of thorns upon your headB
Ye were not glad your errand to fulfillA
Yes for the gift and ministry of SongC
Have something in them so divinely sweetD
It can assuage the bitterness of wrongC
Not in the clamour of the crowded streetD
Not in the shouts and plaudits of the throngC
But in ourselves are triumph and defeatD
