Jeckoyva Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCADD EEFFGHH IIJJIKK LLMMLNN OOPPOQQ

They made the warrior's grave besideA
The dashing of his native timeB
And there was mourning in the glenC
The strong wail of a thousand menC
O'er him thus fallen in his prideA
Ere mist of age or blight or blastD
Had o'er his might spirit pastD
-
They made the warrior's grave beneathE
The bending of the wild elm's wreathE
When the dark hunter's piercing eyeF
Had found that mountain rest on highF
Where scattered by the sharp wind's breathG
Beneath the ragged cliff were thrownH
The strong belt and the mouldering boneH
-
Where was the warrior's foot when firstI
The red sun on the mountain burstI
Where when the sultry noon time cameJ
On the green vales with scorching flameJ
And made the woodlands faint with thirstI
'Twas where the wind is keen and loudK
And the gray eagle breasts the cloudK
-
Where was the warrior's foot when nightL
Veiled in thick cloud the mountain heightL
None heard the loud and sudden crashM
None saw the fallen warrior dashM
Down the bare rock so high and whiteL
But he that drooped not in the chaseN
Made on the hills his burial placeN
-
They found him there when the long dayO
Of cold desertion passed awayO
And traces on that barren cleftP
Of struggling hard with death were leftP
Deep marks and footprints in the clayO
And they have laid this feathery helmQ
By the dark river and green elmQ
