In The Churchyard At Tarrytown Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

Here lies the gentle humorist who diedA
In the bright Indian Summer of his fameB
A simple stone with but a date and nameB
Marks his secluded resting place besideA
The river that he loved and glorifiedA
Here in the autumn of his days he cameB
But the dry leaves of life were all aflameB
With tints that brightened and were multipliedA
How sweet a life was his how sweet a deathC
Living to wing with mirth the weary hoursD
Or with romantic tales the heart to cheerE
Dying to leave a memory like the breathC
Of summers full of sunshine and of showersD
A grief and gladness in the atmosphereE
