Hymn To The Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB ACAC ADAD EFEF EGEG EAEA

I heard the trailing garments of the NightA
Sweep through her marble hallsB
I saw her sable skirts all fringed with lightA
From the celestial wallsB
-
I felt her presence by its spell of mightA
Stoop o'er me from aboveC
The calm majestic presence of the NightA
As of the one I loveC
-
I heard the sounds of sorrow and delightA
The manifold soft chimesD
That fill the haunted chambers of the NightA
Like some old poet's rhymesD
-
From the cool cisterns of the midnight airE
My spirit drank reposeF
The fountain of perpetual peace flows thereE
From those deep cisterns flowsF
-
O holy Night from thee I learn to bearE
What man has borne beforeG
Thou layest thy finger on the lips of CareE
And thy complain no moreG
-
Peace Peace Orestes like I breathe this prayerE
Descend with broad winged flightA
The welcome the thrice prayed for the most fairE
The best beloved NightA
