A Song Of Savoy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII JKJKLL MNMNOO PLPLCC

As the dim twilight shroudsA
The mountain's purple crestB
And Summer's white and folded cloudsA
Are glowing in the westB
Loud shouts come up the rocky dellC
And voices hail the evening bellC
-
Faint is the goatherd's songD
And sighing comes the breezeE
The silent river sweeps alongD
Amid its bending treesE
And the full moon shines faintly thereF
And music fills the evening airF
-
Beneath the waving firsG
The tinkling cymbals soundH
And as the wind the foliage stirsG
I see the dancers boundH
Where the green branches arched aboveI
Bend over this fair scene of loveI
-
And he is there that soughtJ
My young heart long agoK
But he has left me though I thoughtJ
He ne'er could leave me soK
Ah lover's vows how frail are theyL
And his were made but yesterdayL
-
Why comes he not I callM
In tears upon him yetN
'Twere better ne'er to love at allM
Than love and then forgetN
Why comes he not Alas I shouldO
Reclaim him still if weeping couldO
-
But see he leaves the gladeP
And beckons me awayL
He comes to seek his mountain maidP
I cannot chide his stayL
Glad sounds along the valley swellC
And voices hail the evening bellC
