A
SWEET sacred hill on whose fair browB
My Saviour sate shall I allowB
Language to loveC
And idolize some shade or groveD
Neglecting thee such ill plac'd witE
Conceit or call it what you pleaseF
Is the brain's fitE
And mere diseaseF
A
Cotswold and Cooper's both have metG
With learn swains and echo yetG
Their pipes and witE
But thou sleep'st in a deep neglectH
Untouch'd by any and what needI
The sheep bleat thee a silly layJ
That heard'st both reedI
And sheepward playJ
-
-
Yet if poets mind thee wellK
They shall find thou art their hillL
And fountain tooM
Their Lord with thee had most to doM
He wept once walk'd whole nights on theeN
And from thence His suff'rings endedO
Unto gloryN
Was attendedO
-
-
Being there this spacious ballP
Is but His narrow footstool allP
And what we thinkQ
Unsearchable now with one winkQ
He doth comprise but in this airR
When He did stay to bear our illL
And sin this hillL
Was then His ChairR
