The Heavenly Hills Of Holland Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE FGHGIJKJ LMNMFOPQ RSESTUHU

The heavenly hills of HollandA
How wondrously they riseB
Above the smooth green pasturesC
Into the azure skiesB
With blue and purple hollowsD
With peaks of dazzling snowE
Along the far horizonF
The clouds are marching slowE
-
No mortal foot has troddenF
The summits of that rangeG
Nor walked those mystic valleysH
Whose colors ever changeG
Yet we possess their beautyI
And visit them in dreamsJ
While the ruddy gold of sunsetK
From cliff and canyon gleamsJ
-
In days of cloudless weatherL
They melt into the lightM
When fog and mist surround usN
They're hidden from our sightM
But when returns a seasonF
Clear shining after rainO
While the northwest wind is blowingP
We see the hills againQ
-
The old Dutch painters loved themR
Their pictures show them clearS
Old Hobbema and RuysdaelE
Van Goyen and VermeerS
Above the level landscapeT
Rich polders long armed millsU
Canals and ancient citiesH
Float Holland's heavenly hillsU
