Spring In The South Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC ADADAEAE FGHGIIII AJAJKLML

Now in the oak the sap of life is wellingA
Tho' to the bough the rusty leafage clingsB
Now on the elm the misty buds are swellingA
See how the pine wood grows alive with wingsB
Blue jays fluttering yodeling and cryingA
Meadow larks sailing low above the faded grassC
Red birds whistling clear silent robins flyingA
Who has waked the birds up What has come to passC
-
Last year's cotton plants desolately bowingA
Tremble in the March wind ragged and forlornD
Red are the hill sides of the early ploughingA
Gray are the lowlands waiting for the cornD
Earth seems asleep still but she's only feigningA
Deep in her bosom thrills a sweet unrestE
Look where the jasmine lavishly is rainingA
Jove's golden shower into Danae's breastE
-
Now on the plum the snowy bloom is siftedF
Now on the peach the glory of the roseG
Over the hills a tender haze is driftedH
Full to the brim the yellow river flowsG
Dark cypress boughs with vivid jewels glistenI
Greener than emeralds shining in the sunI
Who has wrought the magic Listen sweetheart listenI
The mocking bird is singing Spring has begunI
-
Hark in his song no tremor of misgivingA
All of his heart he pours into his layJ
Love love love and pure delight of livingA
Winter is forgotten here's a happy dayJ
Fair in your face I read the flowery presageK
Snowy on your brow and rosy on your mouthL
Sweet in your voice I hear the season's messageM
Love love love and Spring in the SouthL
