Reliance Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD BEBE FGFF HIHI

Not to the swift the raceA
Not to the strong the fightB
Not to the righteous perfect graceA
Not to the wise the lightB
-
But often faltering feetC
Come surest to the goalD
And they who walk in darkness meetC
The sunrise of the soulD
-
A thousand times by nightB
The Syrian hosts have diedE
A thousand times the vanquished rightB
Hath risen glorifiedE
-
The truth the wise men soughtF
Was spoken by a childG
The alabaster box was broughtF
In trembling hands defiledF
-
Not from my torch the gleamH
But from the stars aboveI
Not from my heart life's crystal streamH
But from the depths of LoveI
