Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDDCEE

Let me but love my love without disguiseA
Nor wear a mask of fashion old or newB
Nor wait to speak till I can hear a clueB
Nor play a part to shine in others' eyesA
Nor bow my knees to what my heart deniesA
But what I am to that let me be trueB
And let me worship where my love is dueB
And so through love and worship let me riseA
-
For love is but the heart's immortal thirstC
To be completely known and all forgivenD
Even as sinful souls that enter HeavenD
So take me dear and understand my worstC
And freely pardon it because confessedE
And let me find in loving thee my bestE

R. Zeller: I’ll bet this is where Willie Nelson got the phrase “Love without disguise” (the most important concept in this poem that the descriptors seem to miss). Nelson’s song is “She’s Gone.” The phrase “Love without disguise” is worth pondering.
