Lights Out Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACCB DCDEEC FGFHHG IJIKKJ

quot Lights out quot along the landA
quot Lights out quot upon the seaB
The night must put her hiding handA
O'er peaceful towns where children sleepC
And peaceful ships that darkly creepC
Across the waves as if they were not freeB
-
The dragons of the airD
The hell hounds of the deepC
Lurking and prowling everywhereD
Go forth to seek their helpless preyE
Not knowing whom they maim or slayE
Mad harvesters who care not what they reapC
-
Out with the tranquil lightsF
Out with the lights that burnG
For love and law and human rightsF
Set back the clock a thousand yearsH
All they have gained now disappearsH
And the dark ages suddenly returnG
-
Kaiser who loosed wild deathI
And terror in the nightJ
God grant you draw no quiet breathI
Until the madness you beganK
Is ended and long suffering manK
Set free from war lords cries quot Let there be Light quotJ
