Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ CKLK CMCM ANAN OPQP

Home for my heart still calls meA
Home through the danger zoneB
Home whatever befalls meA
I will sail again to my ownB
-
Wolves of the sea are hidingC
Closely along the wayD
Under the water bidingC
Their moment to rend and slayD
-
Black is the eagle that brands themE
Black are their hearts as the nightF
Black is the hate that sends themE
To murder but not to fightF
-
Flower of the German CultureG
Boast of the Kaiser's MarineH
Choose for your emblem the vultureG
Cowardly cruel obsceneH
-
Forth from her sheltered havenI
Our peaceful ship glides slowJ
Noiseless in flight as a ravenI
Gray as a hoodie crowJ
-
She doubles and turns in her bearingC
Like a twisting plover she goesK
The way of her westward faringL
Only the captain knowsK
-
In a lonely bay concealingC
She lingers for days and slipsM
At dusk from her covert stealingC
Thro' channels feared by the shipsM
-
Brave are the men and steadyA
Who guide her over the deepN
British mariners readyA
To face the sea wolf's leapN
-
Lord of the winds and watersO
Bring our ship to her markP
Safe from this game of hide and seekQ
With murderers in the darkP
