America's Prosperity Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECDE

They tell me thou art rich my country goldA
In glittering flood has poured into thy chestB
Thy flocks and herds increase thy barns are pressedB
With harvest and thy stores can hardly holdA
Their merchandise unending trains are rolledA
Along thy network rails of East and WestB
Thy factories and forges never restB
Thou art enriched in all things bought and soldA
-
But dost thou prosper Better news I craveC
O dearest country is it well with theeD
Indeed and is thy soul in healthE
A nobler people hearts more wisely braveC
And thoughts that lift men up and make them freeD
These are prosperity and vital wealthE
