A Parable Of Immortality Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEFGH I J KLMC G NH OP O

I am standing upon the seashoreA
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breezeB
and starts for the blue oceanC
-
She is an object of beauty and strengthD
and I stand and watch until at last she hangsE
like a speck of white cloudF
just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each otherG
Then someone at my side saysH
' There she goes '-
-
Gone whereI
-
Gone from my sight that is allJ
-
She is just as large in mast and hull and sparK
as she was when she left my sideL
and just as able to bear her load of living freightM
to the place of destinationC
-
Her diminished size is in me not in herG
-
And just at the momentN
when someone at my side saysH
' There she goes '-
there are other eyes watching her comingO
and other voices ready to take up the glad shoutP
-
' Here she comes '-
And that is dyingO
