A Child In The Garden Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA ACACDD

When to the garden of untroubled thoughtA
I came of late and saw the open doorB
And wished again to enter and exploreB
The sweet wild ways with stainless bloom inwroughtA
And bowers of innocence with beauty fraughtA
It seemed some purer voice must speak beforeB
I dared to tread that garden loved of yoreB
That Eden lost unknown and found unsoughtA
-
Then just within the gate I saw a childA
A stranger child yet to my heart most dearC
He held his hands to me and softly smiledA
With eyes that knew no shade of sin or fearC
Come in he said and play awhile with meD
I am the little child you used to beD
