In due course of course you will all be issued withA
Your proper issue but until tomorrowB
You can hardly be said to need it and until that timeC
We shall have unarmed combat I shall teach youD
The various holds and rolls and throws and breakfallsE
Which you may sometimes meetF
-
And the various holds and rolls and throws and breakfallsE
Do not depend on any sort of weaponG
But only on what I might coin a phrase and callH
The ever important question of human balanceE
And the ever important need to be in a strongI
Position at the startJ
-
There are many kinds of weakness about the bodyK
Where you would least expect like the ball of the footL
But the various holds and rolls and throws and breakfallsE
Will always come in useful And never be frightenedM
To tackle from behind it may not be clean to do soE
But this global warN
-
So give them all you have and always give themO
As good as you get it will always get you somewhereP
You may not know it but you can tie a JerryK
Up without rope it is one of the things I shall teachQ
Nothing will matter if only you are ready for himR
The readiness is allH
-
The readiness is all How can I help but feelS
I have been here before But somehow thenT
I was the tied up one How to get outU
Was always then my problem And even if I hadV
A piece of rope I was always the sort of personG
Who threw rope asideW
-
And in my time I had given them all I hadV
Which was never as good as I got and it got me nowhereP
And the various holds and rolls and throws and breakfallsE
Somehow or other I always seemed to putL
In the wrong place And as for war my warsE
Were global from the startJ
-
Perhaps I was never in a strong positionG
Or the ball of my foot got hurt or I had some weaknessE
Where I had least expected But I think I see your pointX
While awaiting a proper issue we must learn the lessonG
Of the ever important question of human balanceE
It is courage that countsE
-
Things may be the same again and we must fightY
Not in the hope of winning but rather of keepingZ
Something alive so that when we meet our endA2
It may be said that we tackled wherever we couldB2
That battle fit we lived and though defeatedC2
Not without glory foughtD2
