Victoria Regina Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE FGHG IJJ

June stA
-
-
A thousand years by sea and landB
Our race hath served the island kingsC
But not by custom's dull commandB
To day with song her Empire ringsC
-
Not all the glories of her birthD
Her armed renown and ancient throneE
Could make her less the child of earthD
Or give her hopes beyond our ownE
-
But stayed on faith more sternly provedF
And pride than ours more pure and deepG
She loves the land our fathers lovedH
And keeps the fame our sons shall keepG
-
-
These lines with music by Dr Lloyd formed part of the Cycle ofI
Song offered to Queen Victoria of blessed and glorious memoryJ
in celebration of her second JubileeJ
