When late I watched the arrows of the sleetB
Against the windows of the Tavern beatB
I heard a Rose that murmured from her PotC
Why trudge thy fellows yonder in the StreetB

Before the phantom of False Morning diesD
Choked in the bitter Net that binds the skiesD
Their feet bemired with Yesterday set outE
For the dark alleys where To morrow liesD

-
Think you when all their petals they have bruisedF
And all the fragrances of Life confusedF
That Night with sweeter rest will comfort theseG
Than us who still within the Garden musedF

-
Think you the Gold they fight for all day longI
Is worth the frugal Peace their clamours wrongI
Their Titles and the Name they toil to buildJ
Will they outlast the echoes of our SongI

O Sons of Omar what shall be the closeK
Seek not to know for no man living knowsL
But while within your hands the Wine is setM
Drink ye to Omar and the Dreaming RoseL
