Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCBBBD ECECEEED FCFCFFFD

Dargai OctoberA
-
-
Whos for the Gathering who's for the FairB
Gay goes the Gordon to a fightC
The bravest of the brave are at deadlock thereB
Highlanders march by the rightC
There are bullets by the hundred buzzing in the airB
There are bonny lads lying on the hillside bareB
But the Gordons know what the Gordons dareB
When they hear the pipers playingD
-
The happiest English heart todayE
Gay goes the Gordon to a fightC
Is the heart of the Colonel hide it as he mayE
Steady there steady on the rightC
He sees his work and he sees his wayE
He knows his time and the word to sayE
And he's thinking of the tune that the Gordons playE
When he sets the pipers playingD
-
Rising roaring rushing like the tideF
Gay goes the Gordon to a fightC
They're up through the fire zone not be be deniedF
Bayonets and charge by the rightC
Thirty bullets straight where the rest went wideF
And thirty lads are lying on the bare hillsideF
But they passed in the hour of the Gordons' prideF
To the skirl of the pipers' playingD
