Do ye ken hoo to fush for the salmonA
If ye'll listen I'll tell yeB
Dinna trust to the books and their gammonA
They're but trying to sell yeB
Leave professors to read their ain cackleC
And fush their ain styleD
Come awa' sir we'll oot wi' oor tackleC
And be busy the whileD
-
'Tis a wee bit ower bright ye were thinkin'E
Aw ye'll no be the loserF
'Tis better ten baskin' and blinkin'E
Than ane that's a cruiserF
If ye're bent as I tak it on slatterF
Ye should pray for the drootG
For the salmon's her ain when there's watterF
But she's oors when it's ootG
-
Ye may just put your flee book behind yeB
Ane hook wull be plentyB
If they'll no come for this my man mind yeB
They'll no come for twentyB
Ay a rod but the shorter the strangerF
And the nearer to strikeH
For myself I prefare it nae langerF
Than a yard or the likeH
-
Noo ye'll stand awa' back while I'm creepin'E
Wi' my snoot i' the gowansI
There's a bonny twalve poonder a sleepin'E
I' the shade o' yon rowansI
Man man I was fearin' I'd stirred herF
But I've got her the nooE
Hoot fushin's as easy as murrderF
When ye ken what to doG
-
Na na sir I doot na ye're willin'E
But I canna permit yeB
For I'm thinkin' that yon kind o' killin'E
Wad hardly befit yeB
And some work is deefficult hushin'E
There'd be havers and chaffJ
'Twull be best sir for you to be fushin'E
And me wi' the gaffJ
