Balade Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC AABBCC AABBCCI cannot tell of twain beneath this bond | A |
Which one in grief the other goes beyond | A |
Narcissus who to end the pain he bore | B |
Died of the love that could not help him more | B |
Or I that pine because I cannot see | C |
The lady who is queen and love to me | C |
- | |
Nay for Narcissus in the forest pond | A |
Seeing his image made entreaty fond | A |
Beloved comfort on my longing pour | B |
So for a while he soothed his passion sore | B |
So cannot I for all too far is she | C |
The lady who is queen and love to me | C |
- | |
But since that I have Love's true colours donned | A |
I in his service will not now despond | A |
For in extremes Love yet can all restore | B |
So till her beauty walks the world no more | B |
All day remembered in my hope shall be | C |
The lady who is queen and love to me | C |
