To The Irish Delegates Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB ACAC DEDE DBDB FGHG

Farewell The gold we send shall be a tokenA
Of that which in our hearts is growing strongB
You asked our sympathy and we have spokenA
They wrong us who our brothers rob and wrongB
-
Tell Ireland tell her in her desolationA
That hearts within the South for her have bledC
That scalding tears of helpless indignationA
By eyes that read her cruel wrongs are shedC
-
Helpless no more but strong to act hereafterD
For silenced arc the loyal subjects sneersE
Too long have Ireland s wrongs been words of laughterD
Arch mockery to tickle British earsE
-
Tell Ireland that they lie of us they slanderD
Who say we care not for another s wrongB
For we are not the men to kneel and panderD
To tyranny because the tyrant s strongB
-
Take back across the waves Australia s messageF
And say our hearts are big and strong our handsG
Tell Ireland that for her is surest presageH
Of fate as fair as of these Southern landsG
