Till All The Bad Things Came Untrue Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGHIDID JKJKLDLD ABABMDMD

BY blacksoil plains burned grey with droughtA
Where desert shrubs and grasses growB
Along the Land of Furthest OutA
That only Overlanders knowB
I dreamed I camped on river grassC
In bends where river timber grewD
I dreamed I dreamed the days to passC
Till all the bad things came untrueD
-
I dreamed that I was young againE
But was not young as I had beenF
My path through life seemed fair and plainG
My sight and hearing clear and keenH
No longer bent nor lined and greyI
I met and loved and worshipped youD
I dreamed I dreamed the days awayI
Till all the sad things came untrueD
-
I dreamed a home of freestone stoodJ
With toned tiled roofs as roofs should beK
By cliff and fall and beach and woodJ
With wide verandahs to the seaK
I dreamed a hale gudeman and wifeL
With sons and daughters well to doD
Lived there the glorious old home lifeL
And all the mad things were untrueD
-
From blacksoil plains burned bare with droughtA
Where years are sown that never growB
From dead grey creeks of dreams and droughtA
Through black ridged wastes of weirdest woeB
I tramped and camped with fearsome fareM
Until the sea scape came in viewD
And lo the home lay smiling thereM
And all the bad things were untrueD
