The Spirits For Good Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE AFAF GHGH AIAJ HKHK LAMA NKNO APAP

We come with peace and reasonA
We come with love and lightB
To banish black self treasonA
And everlasting nightB
-
We know no god nor devilC
We neither drive nor leadD
We come to banish evilC
In thought as well as deedE
-
And this our grandest missionA
And this our purest worthF
To banish superstitionA
The blackest curse on earthF
-
We come to pass no sentenceG
For ours is not the powerH
The coward s vain repentanceG
But wastes the waiting hourH
-
Tis not for us to lengthenA
The years of wasted livesI
We come to help and strengthenA
The goodness that survivesJ
-
We promise nought hereafterH
We cannot conquer painK
But work and rest and laughterH
Will soothe the tortured brainK
-
That which is lost we cannotL
Restore to any oneA
But Truth and Right must triumphM
And Justice must be doneA
-
We come in many guisesN
But every one is plainK
To each pure thought that risesN
Again and yet againO
-
We are ourselves and humanA
And ours our destinyP
The souls of Man and WomanA
Divorced by VanityP
