The Separation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEAGDGHEIE JKDKLEME

We knew too little of the worldA
And you and I were goodB
Twas paltry things that wrecked our livesC
As well I knew they wouldB
The people said our love was deadD
But how were they to knowE
Ah had we loved each other lessF
We d not have quarrelled soE
We knew too little of the worldA
And you and I were kindG
We listened to what others saidD
And both of us were blindG
The people said twas selfishnessH
But how were they to knowE
Ah had we both more selfish beenI
We d not have parted soE
-
But still when all seems lost on earthJ
Then heaven sets a signK
Kneel down beside your lonely bedD
And I will kneel by mineK
And let us pray for happy daysL
Like those of long agoE
Ah had we knelt together thenM
We d not have parted soE
