The Rush To London Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FBGBCDED HDHDEDED

You re off away to London nowA
Where no one dare ignore youB
With Southern laurels on your browA
And all the world before youB
But if you should return againC
Forgotten and unknowingD
Then one shall wait in wind and rainE
Where forty cheered you goingD
-
You re off away to London provedF
Where fair girls shall adore youB
The poor plain face of one that lovedG
May never rise before youB
But if you should return againC
When young blood ceases flowingD
Then one shall wait in wind and rainE
Where forty cheered you goingD
-
It may be carelessly you spokeH
Of never more returningD
But sometimes in the London smokeH
You ll smell the gum leaves burningD
And think of how the grassy plainE
Beyond the fog is flowingD
And one that waits in shine or rainE
Where forty cheered you goingD
