The Route March Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDBABEEB ACFFDD

Did you hear the children singing O my brothersA
Did you hear the children singing as our troops went marching pastB
In the sunshine and the rainC
As they ll never sing againD
Hear the little school girls singing as our troops went swinging pastB
Did you hear the children singing O my brothersA
Did you hear the children singing for the first man and the lastB
As they marched away and vanishedE
To a tune we thought was banishedE
Did you hear the children singing for the future and the pastB
-
Shall you hear the children singing O my brothersA
Shall you hear the children singing in the sunshine or the rainC
There ll be sobs beneath the ringingF
Of the cheers and neath the singingF
There ll be tears of orphan children whenD
Our Boys come back againD
