The Pink Carnation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DBDB EBFB

I may walk until I m fainting I may write until I m blindedA
I might drink until my back teeth are afloatB
But I can t forget my ruin and the happy days behind itC
When I wore a pink carnation in my coatB
-
Oh I thought that time could conquer and I thought my heart would hardenD
But it sends a sudden lump into my throatB
When I think of what I have been and the cottage and the gardenD
When I wore a pink carnation in my coatB
-
God forgive you girl and bless you Let no line of mine distress youE
I am sorry for the bitter lines I wroteB
But remember and think kindly for we met and married blindlyF
When I wore a pink carnation in my coatB
