The King (ii) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDF GHDICJKJ FLFLFDED

And now a son has come againA
To keep the peace or strike the blowB
And have a long great glorious reignC
Through calm or tempest weal or woeB
And strange things set me wonderingD
As man and youth we knew him hereE
The one the only British KingD
To see his Southern HemisphereF
-
Midst pealing bells and cannons dinG
The countless thousands cheer and striveH
To catch one glance of their new KingD
And queenly Mary his fair brideI
Til on their knees within the FaneC
The Royal couple meekly kneelJ
The Great God s clemency to claimK
And pray Him for their people s wealJ
-
And so I see in vision clearF
The long reign of this noble lineL
How on and on from year to yearF
The star of peace shall brighter shineL
How men and nations without fearF
Shall hope and labour strive and singD
The day of liberty is hereE
The King is Dead Long Live the KingD
