The Blue Mountains Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCB DEDE FGFG HIHI JBJB KLKM

Above the ashes straight and tallA
Through ferns with moisture drippingB
I climb beneath the sandstone wallA
My feet on mosses slippingB
-
Like ramparts round the valley's edgeC
The tinted cliffs are standingB
With many a broken wall and ledgeC
And many a rocky landingB
-
And round about their rugged feetD
Deep ferny dells are hiddenE
In shadowed depths whence dust and heatD
Are banished and forbiddenE
-
The stream that crooning to itselfF
Comes down a tireless roverG
Flows calmly to the rocky shelfF
And there leaps bravely overG
-
Now pouring down now lost in sprayH
When mountain breezes sallyI
The water strikes the rock midwayH
And leaps into the valleyI
-
Now in the west the colours changeJ
The blue with crimson blendingB
Behind the far Dividing RangeJ
The sun is fast descendingB
-
And mellowed day comes o'er the placeK
And softens ragged edgesL
The rising moon's great placid faceK
Looks gravely o'er the ledgesM
