Statue Of Robert Burns Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGDGD HAIAJDJD KDKDLMLN

To a town in Southern landA
Light of purse I come and loneB
And I pause awhile and standA
By a pedestal of stoneB
And I bend my head and bowC
While my heart to Scotland turnsD
For I know I m standing nowC
Neath the form of Robbie BurnsD
-
Round the corners of the lipsE
Lines of laughter seem to runF
From the merry eye there slipsE
Just a twinkle as of funF
Living in the sculptor s artG
Set in stone mine eye discernsD
All the beauty and a partG
Of the soul of Robert BurnsD
-
One of Caledonia s sonsH
Coming lonely to the landA
Well might think he d met a friendI
Who would take him by the handA
And the tears spring to his eyesJ
While his heart for friendship yearnsD
And from out that heart he criesJ
Heaven bless ye Bobbie BurnsD
-
Unto me as unto youK
Has a hard world done ill turnsD
And the sorrows that you knewK
I am learning Bobbie BurnsD
But I ll keep my heart aboveL
Until after many moonsM
I return to friends I loveL
And to banks line bonnie Doon sN
