Shadows Before Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB DBDDB EFEEF

quot Like clouds o'er the South are the nations who reignA
On fair islands that we would commandB
But clouds that are darker and denser than theseC
Have sailed from an Isle in the Northern SeasC
And rest on our Southern LandB
-
Low in dust is our Goddess of Liberty hurledD
At our feet and the time is at handB
When we the proud sons of the southern worldD
Beneath a proud banner of freedom unfurledD
And true to each other shall standB
-
If e'er in the ranks of the Right we advanceE
Though our enemies come like a floodF
We'll meet them like lions aroused from our tranceE
And show that a streak of the Olden RomanceE
Still runs in our commonplace bloodF
