New Life, New Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHJKLK IMNMFKFK

The breezes blow on the river belowA
And the fleecy clouds float highB
And I mark how the dark green gum trees matchC
The bright blue dome of the skyB
The rain has been and the grass is greenD
Where the slopes were bare and brownE
And I see the things that I used to seeF
In the days ere my head went downE
-
I have found a light in my long dark nightG
Brighter than stars or moonH
I have lost the fear of the sunset drearI
And the sadness of afternoonH
Here let us stand while I hold your handJ
Where the light s on your golden headK
Oh I feel the thrill that I used to feelL
In the days ere my heart was deadK
-
The storm s gone by but my lips are dryI
And the old wrong rankles yetM
Sweetheart or wife I must take new lifeN
From your red lips warm and wetM
So let it be you may cling to meF
There is nothing on earth to dreadK
For I ll be the man that I used to beF
In the days ere my heart was deadK
