Jack Robertson Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FCGCHIDI

How oft in public meetings pastA
Where sense was not and talk was loudB
We caught a glimpse of long white hairC
Upon the outskirts of the crowdB
And then the tide of talk ebbed backD
While here and there above the dinE
A workman cried Here's old Sir JackD
And made a path to let him inE
-
Now Peter sitting at the gateF
While crowds of souls are waiting thereC
Perchance upon the outer fringeG
May catch a glimpse of silvery hairC
While some rough soul who went from hereH
To that great meeting in the blueI
Will cry aloud Here's old Sir JackD
And make a path to let him throughI
