Dan Wasn-t Thrown From His Horse Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHAH AICI JKFK LMAM

THEY SAY he was thrown and run overA
But that is sheer nonsense of courseB
I taught him to ride when a kiddyC
And Dan wasn t thrown from his horseB
-
The horse that Dan rode was a devilD
The kind of a brute I despiseE
With nasty white eyelashes fringingF
A pair of red sinister eyesE
-
And a queerly shaped spot on his foreheadG
Where I put a conical ballH
The day that he murdered Dan DenverA
The pluckiest rider of allH
-
Twas after the races were overA
And Duggan a Talbragar manI
And two of the Denvers and BarneyC
Were trying a gallop with DanI
-
Dan s horse on a sudden got viciousJ
And reared up an plunged in the raceK
Then threw back his head hitting Dan likeF
A sledge hammer full in the faceK
-
Dan stopped and got down stood a momentL
Then fell to the ground like a stoneM
And died about ten minutes afterA
But they re liars who say he was thrownM
