Andy's Return Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCEFGFGHIHI JKJKKDKE LKLKKDKE CKCKCMCM

With pannikins all rustyA
And billy burnt and blackB
And clothes all torn and dustyA
That scarcely hide his backB
With sun cracked saddle leatherC
And knotted greenhide reinD
And face burnt brown with weatherC
Our Andy s home againE
His unkempt hair is fadedF
With sleeping in the wetG
He s looking old and jadedF
But he is hearty yetG
With eyes sunk in their socketsH
But merry as of yoreI
With big cheques in his pocketsH
Our Andy s home once moreI
-
Old Uncle s bright and cheerfulJ
He wears a smiling faceK
And Aunty s never tearfulJ
Now Andy s round the placeK
Old Blucher barks for gladnessK
He broke his rusty chainD
And leapt in joyous madnessK
When Andy came againE
-
With tales of flood and famineL
On distant northern tracksK
And shady yarns baal gammonL
Of dealings with the blacksK
From where the skies hang lazyK
On many a northern plainD
From regions dim and hazyK
Our Andy s home againE
-
His toil is nearly overC
He ll soon enjoy his gainsK
Not long he ll be a droverC
And cross the lonely plainsK
We ll happy be for everC
When he ll no longer roamM
But by some deep cool riverC
Will make us all a homeM
