Our Andy's gone to battle nowA
'Gainst Drought the red marauderB
Our Andy's gone with cattle nowA
Across the Queensland borderB
-
He's left us in dejection nowA
Our hearts with him are rovingC
It's dull on this selection nowA
Since Andy went a drovingC
-
Who now shall wear the cheerful faceD
In times when things are slackestE
And who shall whistle round the placeD
When Fortune frowns her blackestE
-
Oh who shall cheek the squatter nowA
When he comes round us snarlingC
His tongue is growing hotter nowA
Since Andy cross'd the DarlingC
-
The gates are out of order nowA
In storms the riders' rattleF
For far across the border nowA
Our Andy's gone with cattleF
-
Poor Aunty's looking thin and whiteE
And Uncle's cross with worryG
And poor old Blucher howls all nightE
Since Andy left MacquarieG
-
Oh may the showers in torrents fallH
And all the tanks run overG
And may the grass grow green and tallH
In pathways of the droverG
-
And may good angels send the rainI
On desert stretches sandyG
And when the summer comes againJ
God grant 'twill bring us AndyG
