Written In The Homer Of Mr. H. K. White, Presented To Me By His Brother, J. Neville White, By Capel Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDCEFF G

Bard of brief days but ah of deathless fameA
While on these awful leaves my fond eyes restB
On which thine late have dwelt thy hand late press'dB
I pause and gaze regretful on thy nameA
By neither chance nor envy time nor flameA
Be it from this its mansion dispossessedB
But thee Eternity clasps to her breastB
And in celestial splendour thrones thy claimA
-
No more with mortal pencil shalt thou traceC
An imitative radiance thy pure lyreD
Springs from our changeful atmosphere's embraceC
And beams and breathes in empyreal fireE
The Homeric and Miltonian sacred toneF
Responsive hail that lyre congenial to their ownF
