To Thought, Written At Midnight Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADEEE FGFFGHHH IJKKJLLL MNOMNPPP CQEEQHHH

Hence away vindictive thoughtA
Thy pictures are of painB
The visions through thy dark eye caughtC
They with no gentle charms are fraughtA
So pr'y thee back againD
I would not weepE
I wish to sleepE
Then why thou busy foe with me thy vigils keepE
-
Why dost o'er bed and couch reclineF
Is this thy new delightG
Pale visitant it is not thineF
To keep thy sentry through the mineF
The dark vault of the nightG
'Tis thine to dieH
While o'er the eyeH
The dews of slumber press and waking sorrows flyH
-
Go thou and bide with him who guidesI
His bark through lonely seasJ
And as reclining on his helmK
Sadly he marks the starry realmK
To him thou mayst bring easeJ
But thou to meL
Art miseryL
So pr'ythee pr'ythee plume thy wings and from my pillow fleeL
-
And memory pray what art thouM
Art thou of pleasure bornN
Does bliss untainted from thee flowO
The rose that gems thy pensive browM
Is it without a thornN
With all thy smilesP
And witching wilesP
Yet not unfrequent bitterness thy mournful sway defilesP
-
The drowsy night watch has forgotC
To call the solemn hourQ
Lull'd by the winds he slumbers deepE
While I in vain capricious sleepE
Invoke thy tardy powerQ
And restless lieH
With unclosed eyeH
And count the tedious hours as slow they minute byH
