To An Early Primrose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJKL CMNN ONPQ

Mild offspring of a dark and sullen sireA
Whose modest form so delicately fineB
Was nursed in whirling stormsC
And cradled in the windsD
-
Thee when young spring first question'd winter's swayE
And dared the sturdy blusterer to the fightF
Thee on this bank he threwG
To mark his victoryH
-
In this low vale the promise of the yearI
Serene thou openest to the nipping galeJ
Unnoticed and aloneK
Thy tender eleganceL
-
So virtue blooms brought forth amid the stormsC
Of chill adversity in some lone walkM
Of life she rears her headN
Obscure and unobservedN
-
While every bleaching breeze that on her blowsO
Chastens her spotless purity of breastN
And hardens her to bearP
Serene the ills of lifeQ
