Sonnet Written At The Grave Of A Friend Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDBEBEFF| Fast from the west the fading day streaks fly | A |
| And ebon Night assumes her solemn sway | B |
| Yet here alone unheeding time I lie | A |
| And o'er my friend still pour the plaintive lay | B |
| Oh 'tis not long since George with thee I woo'd | C |
| The maid of musings by yon moaning wave | D |
| And hail'd the moon's mild beam which now renew'd | C |
| Seems sweetly sleeping on thy silent grave | D |
| The busy world pursues its boisterous way | B |
| The noise of revelry still echoes round | E |
| Yet I am sad while all beside is gay | B |
| Yet still I weep o'er thy deserted mound | E |
| Oh that like thee I might bid sorrow cease | F |
| And 'neath the greensward sleep the sleep of peace | F |
