Sonnet To The River Trent, Written On Recovery From Sickness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCBCDEDEFF

Once more O Trent along thy pebbly margeA
A pensive invalid reduced and paleB
From the close sick room newly set at largeA
Woos to his wan worn cheek the pleasant galeB
O to his ear how musical the taleB
Which fills with joy the throstle's little throatC
And all the sounds which on the fresh breeze sailB
How wildly novel on his senses floatC
It was on this that many a sleepless nightD
As lone he watch'd the taper's sickly gleamE
And at his casement heard with wild affrightD
The owl's dull wing and melancholy screamE
On this he thought this this his sole desireF
Thus once again to hear the warbling woodland choirF
